Is this my first 2010 update???

I think it might be - what a poor show! And there was me promising to write in this blog regularly. Never mind, I can't imagine anyone has missed me very much. Lots to update you with though, for those readers who are interested in things LMW related and the shows Tomorrow Morning, Through the Door, The Lost Christmas and Girlfriends.

First things first, in case you don't know there has been a new album release: finally, the Chicago cast recording of TM is out - at Dress Circle, iTunes, Amazon MP3 (soon on Amazon for discs) and all good digital retailers or through the LMW site. This is the new recording from the amazing cast of the award winning production in Chicago in 2008 - lots of new songs, a great new cast, all very exciting. You can hear previews of course at iTunes, so go listen, go buy!

In fact, the LMW website has had a complete upgrade and now the whole shop section is up and running. You can order all of my CDs (ie TM, TLC and the original TM album) from there, plus you can buy my sheet music online. At the moment if you buy sheet music from the site you will be emailed a PDF, but we are working on it so that you will be able to purchase and instantly download a PDF file. There are only about six songs there at the moment, all good audition numbers, but its possible that anything you want can be got through the site, so email the site if there is something you want that isn't there yet. We can make things happen. Ultimately, I hope that all my sheet music will be available through the website.

On that note, the Vocal Selections book, containing 16 songs from Tomorrow Morning is on the shelf at Dress Circle in the West End, and available from http://www.dresscircle.co.uk/ or from http://www.laurencemarkwythe.com/.

As you may know, TM will premiere in Australia this year, and I hope to be able to post a link about this soon. All I know at the moment is it's in Victoria, in October, in a small theatre and will be a short run. But still exciting news for my globetrotting little show.

Girlfriends has a complete new draft - not that anyone is familiar with the old draft, but we did a reading last year that seemed to go on for days. The show has been streamlined, brought back to this side of the Atlantic, the score has been cut back to the strongest songs, ideas and themes and I think we are in a pretty good place. The show as it is now goes back to the producer who will then decide if he wants to continue with his involvement, or not - that's how it works. So fingers crossed - either way we will be workshopping this piece in 2010 in some shape or form, later in the year.

Through the Door has had some further refinements and now waits in abeyance for a certain couple of elements to hopefully reach fruition - Judy and I are just sitting on this right now as we wait to hear about something. I am very proud of this show which was - for a few brief hours last year - my West End musical. I can't wait to get Julie Atherton and the rest of the cast back together and to see this show on again. Somewhere...

Right now I am dealing with the promotion for the new album and working on a couple of songs, tidying up the TM script/score for Oz and working on the GF rewrites, and hopefully turning our thoughts back soon to the The Lost Christmas storybook, and working on a couple of small projects for later this year.

Toodle-oo. :)
